We do this by combining two processes that normally exist at two different ends of the spectrum : Bespoke Tailoring & Creative Fashion Development.
How did we come up with the idea?
Well the answer lies in the unique experience and background of the founder Samson.
The Founder of Maxmillian Bespoke
Samson, born and raised in San Francisco, began apprenticing as a tailor at the age of 16. Growing up in the Richmond district of the city, he learned from a Russian tailor named Boris Katz who ran his own tailoring shop servicing the locals in the neighborhood. After three years of apprenticing, he moved to London to attend London College of Fashion where he studied bespoke tailoring and learned the world renowned bespoke methods developed and practiced on Saville Row. After graduating from London College of Fashion, Samson worked as an intern at Ozwald Boateng, whilst also working as a freelance jacket and trouser maker for other bespoke tailors. During this time, Samson was absorbing as much information about the bespoke process as possible, analyzing what truly makes the bespoke experience so special. The devil is in the details, and devotion is the name of the game.
How it all started
After a while though, Samson ran into a problem. He no longer felt satisfied with the kind of work he was doing, and he went on a quest looking for a new job. Of course he knew he didn’t want to stop being a tailor or making clothes, its just already at a young age, he was tired of working in a limited environment and was yearning to think and create outside of the box. He wanted to feel excited and on his toes, so he got a job in fashion, working as a creative pattern cutter. First, for local designer Wales Bonner, and later on the infamous Band of Outsiders. After studying and working in the bespoke tailoring and fashion industry for 8 years in London, Samson decided to return home to San Francisco and start his own bespoke label. When it came time to figuring out how it was all going to come together, it was only natural that it was an amalgamation of all of his experiences and skillsets.
And so Maxmillian Bespoke was born.
